The coat Griffen is wearing in the most recent pages of Dicebox is directly inspired by a man’s at-home robe from the 18th century that I saw as part of an exhibit at LACMA. I was delighted to discover that the museum’s website not only contains a picture of this item but also offers the sewing pattern for it as a free download.
I often get asked about my inspiration for the clothing in Dicebox as well as a staring point for a pattern for this or that. As I generally modify the design of whatever inspired me with no real regard to construction, this can be difficult. Hence my delight to be able to supply a request so readily and succinctly.
